commemmorates Lodewijk Mortelmans

A mood lyricus.
That's how Jan Broeckx called the Antwerp composer Lodewijk Mortelmans.
A composer who balances between post-romantism and pre-impressionism.
A subtle composer who felt himself especially attracted towards Lied and piano.
After his dead, now 50 years ago, he left us an opera, many orchestral works, chamber works, choral works and instrumental works aswell numerous Lieder.
He was the favourite pupil of Peter Benoit, and pupil from Jan Blockx and Arthur De Greef. He was inspired by the work of Guido Gezelle, Leonardo Da Vinci, Fra Angelico, Botticelli and Wagner.

Recently four new CDs were released with work of Lodewijk Mortelmans
